Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a disease that is transmitted through the bite of mosquitoes infected with the dengue virus, and is a cause of morbidity and death that is often found in tropical and subtropical countries, including Indonesia. This study aims to analyze factors related to efforts to prevent dengue hemorrhagic fever in Palembang City. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. This research was conducted in the work area of the Empat Ulu Community Health Center, Palembang City with a sample size of 96 respondents taken randomly. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed univariably and bivariably with the chi-square test. The research results showed that the majority of respondents were ≥ 40 years old, male, the majority had a high level of education and were working. The results of the bivariable analysis showed that action was significantly related to efforts to prevent dengue fever (pv=0.027). Efforts to prevent dengue fever are related to community action in preventing dengue fever, therefore promotive and preventive efforts need to be carried out by community health center officers in controlling dengue fever in their work areas.
